The Metal and Weapons conservation studio performs complex conservation of historic items made of metal, including their reconstruction.

We specialise in items made of combined materials, such as militaria and decorative items.

We successfully combine old-time manufacturing techniques with state-of-the-art technology, using equipment collected by generations of conservators. The studio has been operating in the Krakow Museum since 1906 and at present it employs four specialists.

The most valuable objects conserved by our studio include:

Scaled cuirass of hetman (military commander) St. Jabłonowski

Holy relic holding cross donated by Władysław Jagiełło to the Sandomierz Cathedral

Treasure from Środa Śląska

Portable Augsburg altar donated in 1708 by prince Konstanty Sobieski to Jasna Góra monastery

Sword of King Sigismund the Old from the Wawel Cathedral

A silver altar from Sigismund Chapel at the Wawel Cathedral

We perform ongoing conservation as requested by the Militaria and Artistic Handicraft Departments of the National Museum in Krakow.
