LABORATORY OF ANALYSIS AND NONDESTRUCTIVE INVESTIGATIONS OF HERITAGE OBJECTS

The Laboratory of the National Museum in Krakow supports preservation and conservation of the Museum’s collection through the development of strategies and constant improvement of collection management methods. The Laboratory carries out specialised research in the field broadly understood as heritage science - rooted in the interdisciplinary context of science and humanities - and implements a fundamental research programme in an international context.

Laboratory of Analysis and Nondestructive Investigations of Heritage Objects invites the public to the laboratory for discovering mysteries within works of art during the Festival of Science in Krakow.

 

Secret paintings - application of infrared reflectography to visualize lower paint layers and underdrawings

Modern preservation of works of art - threats and preservation of heritage objects

Mobile laboratory - mobile devices used for research on large format objects and to carry  out research directly in the art gallery
